5 Best Tips for Spoiling Your Fur Baby

Our dog is an important member of our family. Even though he selected us less than a year ago, it’s difficult to recall our family being complete without him. Ghost is a Miniature American Eskimo who is the most adorable pet imaginable.

It makes me so happy to be able to treat him. This is why, before you go to an online store for pets I’ve compiled a list of some of my favorite things for pampering your pet while keeping them healthy and active.

#1. Eating!

The most common path to a dog’s heart is delicious food. Cooking with your dog is a fun way to spend time in the kitchen with him while also satisfying his hunger. However, if you don’t have the time, inclination, other options are just as excellent.

Look through your local phone book to discover if any bakeries specialize in dog treats. You can also order from Delcela!

#2. Hikes!

My dog’s favorite part of the day is going for a stroll. She enjoys going on walks around the neighborhood to check what has changed since the last time she saw a certain shrub, rock, or pole. We switch up our walking routes from time to time to keep her engaged. This provides her with fresh places to explore and fragrances to discover.

I normally go on my own before starting a new route to check for hostile dogs in backyard fences and any dangers along the way. On a lovely day, I like to surprise her by taking her for an additional stroll. She’s always ready for an additional journey around the neighborhood to see her favorite folks and pets as long as she’s not exhausted.

#3. Curiosity!

Dogs are naturally curious and like learning new things. If not kept occupied with tricks, training, puzzles, or a specific “work,” several breeds have been known to grow sad or destructive. If you can’t find an obedience consider viewing some videos online or enrolling in a virtual class.

If you’re more old-school, your local library will have a section of dog training books, but knowledge on how to teach even an elderly dog new skills is easily accessible. Use some attractive dog treats to encourage your dog to learn.

#4. Dive In!

Baths aren’t my dog’s favorite activity; in fact, if she’s in the shower without a human partner, you’d think she’s dying. Her bemused cries could shatter glass and make grown men cry. When I ask whether she wants to go swimming, though, her dream of being wet vanishes.

She’s up for a trip to the beach, the lake, or a pool party with other dogs at a friend’s house. Swimming is a terrific way for dogs of all ages to get some exercise while being gentle on their joints. My dog wears her own life jacket, and we clean her ears after each swim to keep her healthy.

#5. Have Fun!

A game of fetch, a trip to the dog park, or a tug of war with a favorite toy are all activities that dogs enjoy. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been blissfully working away until I’m interrupted by a slobbery stuffed turkey or a well-worn Mr. Squiggles staring me down.

When I glance up, there’s always a giggling puppy with her bottom in the air and her tail waving wildly, wanting me to play. When my dog requests a five-minute break from work, I give it to her.
